With a track record in high-profile, groundbreaking cases, Matthew Cowie acts for major corporates, senior executives and high net worth individuals in government-facing investigations and criminal prosecutions and other enforcement proceedings. Matthew also has extensive experience of DPAs and investigations involving worldwide law enforcement agencies and regulators. Matthew’s expertise spans all aspects of white-collar crime including corruption, fraud, insider dealing, money laundering, sanctions and accounting.

Matthew was a lead partner in the market-leading Airbus global corruption settlement, acting for Airbus. His other high-stakes defence cases include Afren, Alstom, Amec Foster Wheeler, Alcoa, GPT and GSK.

As an experienced prosecutor at the SFO until entering private practice in 2010, Matthew was at the forefront of many of the largest corporate investigations. He has led cases that have helped shape how the UK investigates corruption. Matthew is a qualified barrister, regularly published author and has been a visiting lecturer in financial crime at the London School of Economics.
